Icepodder 5.4 Revision 65 Mandriva 2008.1

My latest personal build for Icepodder for Mandriva 2008.1 Spring.

It is a simple aggregator and feeds are easily added. The Icepodder team have removed a lot of the old dependencies; pyxmms, python, libxml2.python. Updated from wxgtk2.6 to wxPythonGTK 2.8.

I have included Mandriva 2008.1 Spring build including source. Please give any feed back to the Icepodder developers as they love to hear how much you enjoy Icepodder.

Epping Model Railway Exhibition 2008

Today I took my son to the Epping Model Railway Exhibition Railway Exhibition, which has been running over the long weekend. We tried for today as the crowds were smaller, for most of the weekend had been quite large in attendance.

This year saw more layouts and stalls then any year previous.

Main Hall 2

Ticket price for old was quite cheap entertainment, considering my son got in for free being under 5.

The detail and effort being put in the dioramas is getting better and the techniques easier. Some new layout had used these techniques and made some really life like displays.

The newer make of engines now come with their own sound and engine noise. Also the new engines are controlled digitally via a handset. This means the whole track will be live and the train will only move if the control box contains the signature of the train. This makes the displays very life like as you can run two trains on the same line without interference.

This year (as always) the ‘Thomas the Tank Engine: ride on engine was there. My son loves this most of all. The Epping Model Railway Club also had a setup for kids to use with Thomas the Tank Engine trains on it.

These events attract enthusiasts or just people who have a small interest.

This is one of the events on my calendar every year. Can’t wait till the next one.
